The Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB) or the Fenian organization was founded simultaneously in Dublin and New York in 1858 by a number of people who had 1848 connected with the rebellion in Ireland, including – James Stephens, John O'Mahony, Charles Kickham, John O'Leary, Thomas Clarke Luby and Michael Doheny.

They organized the movement along the lines of "circles", which was compared to a regiment, which was very quiet with only knowing each range which has above. The Fenians believed that armed revolution was the only way forward and therefore prepared for an uprising to Britain must be at a disadvantage. Soon settled in Australia, South America, Canada and particularly in the U.S. and in major cities of England. When an increase in the last attempt was in 1867, the government were far ahead of the conspiracy and most of the Fenian leaders were in prison, was really nothing more than a gesture.

Without But the movement was given new impetus to the recruits, which keeps the channels open and waited until the day the revolution was coming. They have to wait fifty years, but during this long period was an ideal Fenianism that nationalists could cling desperately. However, in the early twentieth century, the movement had been largely stagnant, increasingly interested in municipal politics in Dublin that the establishment of a Republic of Ireland. A more generations young nationalists began to change all that since 1905, in 1914 the Supreme Council of the IRB was largely purged of their leadership older, jaded. Blood new program helped establish the Irish Volunteers in 1913 and were very influential in the War of Independence in Ireland later. Next to the Civil War, the Council Supreme voted to dissolve the organization, considering that the targets had been met.

I was very happy to go to Mexico – despite having passed through Central and South America for a year, I managed to miss the whole of Mexico. It was time to make amends and two areas in particular stands out for me in Mexico City and the state of Chiapas.

Mexico
I arrived in Mexico, filled with fear and images of such films as "Amores Perros" flipping my head — Images of a smog-filled, hot dusty Mexico City with the crime and poverty on every corner. However, my three days, he could not be more different.

The temperature was perfect, being pleasantly warm in the sun during the day and cool at night, I did not sense trouble sleeping at night.

It is true that there is a serious problem with the air quality in Mexico, largely to its geographical location – a bowl surrounded by mountains that do not allow air to escape. However, it was not noticeable to walk.

I saw very little poverty and certainly never felt intimidated or threatened in the street. As in any city, good sense and be wise the street is important, but there is no need to hide in your hotel room the night. I headed Santa Rosa, just one block from Reforma Street's largest city of Mexico, to find a lively nightlife.

During the day, I pottered around the neighborhood of Polanco, the city's most sophisticated, filled with designer boutiques and international brands such as Cartier and Tiffany on Marsaryk Presidente. Not only at home to chic shops but some of the best restaurants, bars and hotels. Here also Chapultec Park with a zoo free to enter, 10 museums and the Museum of Anthropology.

At the weekend on the south side of the city, the neighborhood Coyoacan (Mexico is home to the rich and famous and home of Frida Kahlo) has a craft market on the main square. The square is surrounded by quaint cafes and restaurants, and Sunday, when families in the neighborhood come out to eat for the day. At home, the kitchen is a sign hanging on the door – No Service Today!

Teotihuacan was a wonderful day trip and a very impressive site, even if I do not glaze over a little Tourist ruins – nothing to do with the nightlife .. This was the largest city in the Americas until the 1st century and a superb example of Aztec archeology and a must.

Chiapas

San Cristobal de las Casas is a small Colonial town in the heart of the State Chiapas. Here, I found baroque facades, Italian coffees and daily markets, which makes this town a charming place to spend a few days. What really fascinated me were the Maya and the communities surrounding the mysterious stories of the Lacandon Indians, a tribe in the jungle very few people knew existed and were close to extinction.

I felt that San Juan Chamula, a village in the heart of Indian uprisings in 1524 and new in 1869 was a must. Refusing to comply with the will to Spanish Catholicism, the Catholic Church has been stripped of pews, altars and all things Catholic, and replaced by their own saints, and provides a roof under which they perform their own rituals and offerings. The local costume is unique – Hairy black skirts worn by women as a trademark. Photography is prohibited here, so unfortunately I have no pictures.

Zinacantan just across the valley of San Juan Chamula has provided an interesting contrast. I found the Community to be more friendly to the outside and was able to visit some local houses. I loved that not only was I able to touch their beautiful fabrics, but for a fascinating look and feel everyday life. For me, meeting people and gain an understanding of their cultures, one of the foundations of travel.
