While the Philippines has a lot of fresh seafood and a variety with juicy tropical fruit, the daily food of ordinary people tends to be boring. Apart from some exceptions, such as Bicol and the Muslim areas in the south, the seasoning is not spicy. A range of sweets is made of glutinous rice, while halo-halo is a dessert based common with layers of fruit sugar, gelatin, cream, and crushed ice.
