Faversham is a town of about 18,000 inhabitants in the county of Kent in southeast England. The area was already populated at the time of the Roman conquest. In 1148 Stephen King Faversham made his home and built the Abbey of Faversham, where he, his wife and son Eustace, Count of Boulogne, are buried.

During the dissolution of the monasteries (c. 1536) Henry VIII gave the monastery to Sir Thomas Culpeper. Sir Thomas was the abbey demolished to make on them to strengthen the defenses in Calais. Faversham is a port city market and y is the site of the brewery Shepherd Neame, Britain's oldest.

Tourists are fascinated by the center of the city Abbey Street in particular, where a living museum of medieval houses is maintained. These forces lost about urban renewal in the 1960s. But the locals understood the content of what they had and began the battle. The value and irreplaceable historic buildings were identified and the area has been restored.

The center of the city, especially the pedestrian areas, is a tourist attraction. Visitors to the iris center to learn about the history of Faversham and gather information on historic sites in the region. The Market Square and Guildhall are still active several days a week for its original purpose. The district is also home to ancient pubs, taverns, restaurants, shops and art galleries. British sailing barges, has been reconstructed and displayed along side the creek.

The town of Faversham in Kent covers the Canterbury Festival, an international arts festival held every October. The festival is, of course, centered in Canterbury but the nearby towns of Faversham, Whitstable and Margate all involved. Music and theater performances and art exhibits are displayed. Tours of duty historical interest also appear.
