fun tours virginia beach
Go to the City of VA Beach, a good idea?

I live in northern WV. Im 17 and I thought a lot of college. I always wanted to live on a beach or near a beach since I was about 9. However I do not want to go too far from my friends family. I want to be a short drive from them. I was in Ocean City, Maryland and was fun for a holiday but I would never live. So I thought Virginia Beach City. There is this school, I found called Tidewater Community College and nine miles from the beach. I have never been Virginia Beach, but my mother decided to take me there to visit the school this summer. I'm not exactly a lot of money up I'm out of school, I'll have to stay in an apartment 300-500/month. So anyone who knows anything about VA Beach please inform me about things like cost of living, crime rates, employment rates, which the beach is like, etc. etc. etc. will be greatly appreciated.

Virginia Beach is part of a large metropolitan area, approximately 1.6 million in total. It is fairly spread out. The long distances between places is common. The cost of living depends heavily on where you want to live. If it is a beachfront apartment you want, 300-500 per month will not cut. Crime is low in Virginia Beach, relatively speaking, Although some regions are significantly better than the others. Chesapeake Beach and VA are weak, Norfolk and Portsmouth are higher. Cost of living in general, is OK for a big city, but probably much higher than what you are accustomed to WV. Regarding employment, it is an area of low levels of unemployment, but I sure you can find something, especially waiting tables or something. The beach is beautiful, but this is not Florida. The weather pleasant does not appear in April, but the ocean is too cold there. Winter weather is not much here, but winter is soft (usually 45-60 day is December to February) and frost occur, but some palm trees can survive here. During most months warm (May to September) it is very hot (90-100) and humid. The beach is big and beautiful. Public transport is terrible and if you have a car, you'd better live work and go to school all really close.
